Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor

There are different types of blood glucose monitors that are used. Some of them are more basic and others utilize some of the more advanced technology that has been created over the years. It is important that you find one that will work well for you and that you can easily understand

People who use blood glucose monitors have to check their blood every single day to make sure that they are on track. For some they have to check more then once a day if they feel like they have eating too much of one thing or worked out too hard. It can be annoying and painful to prick your finger all the time.

Those who do not delight in doing this or can often forget to check it when they need to have sought easier methods at which they can perform this task. New technology has lead to the creation of the continuous blood glucose monitor. This is a different type of monitor that allows you to check your levels without having to prick your finger.

This system checks the levels by inserting a tiny sensor underneath the surface of your skin. It will check the levels in the tissue fluid and give you a reading. This sensor can stay inside the skin for a few days or up to a week. At this time it will need to be removed and replaced.

Continuous blood glucose monitors are able to send the reading from the sample through radio waves that come from the sensor and is sent to the wireless monitor that the person will wear at all times. The patient can program the device to check the blood when needed.

While these monitors are the most expensive on the market they help to provide the patient with a better method of checking their glucose levels. However, because they are still fairly new some of them may not be as accurate as they need to be. To make sure that they are working properly take a sample with the standard blood glucose monitors and then with the continuous monitor to make sure that they match up.
